Just Between Friends Consignment Shop at the Puyallup Fairgrounds 10.16 - 10.19.14

Well it's that time of year again - the big consignment shop at the Puyallup Fairgrounds; Just Between Friends. I am busy hussling my behind getting all my clothes that I bought over the last year priced and hung. I have completed 9 boxes and I have 10 more to be priced.YIKES - what was I thinking. These boxes seem to be coming out of the woodwork. Plus the grand kids are growing in leaps and bounds so their is more clothes to price. What is a girl to do!

The drop off date is a week from today. I am wondering if I bit off to much again. This year I am hoping to make some serious dough - I need enough to buy a decent couch.

My office looks like something exploded within it. Dresses, socks, clothes every where and books that I am selling on Amazon. Do you ever feel that you are drowning in too much stuff. I feel like that on an every day cycle.
Check out the Just Between Friends website for more information.

Lice - the ugly demons

Lice has found there way to the Pacific Northwest this summer. My granddaughter received notice last week when she was enjoying summer camp that several of the campers had head lice. I checked her head a few times but I didn't see anything but a red scalp - no nits or lice. So I gave her some Benadryl to help with the itch and sent her on her merry way.
Niki and her family went camping over the weekend and then we celebrated my birthday at my parents house on Sunday. Everyone went home and I expected a calm week. But of course this didn't happen - got a text from Niki on Monday stating that Kenz had some bugs in her hair - but it didn't look like lice. After closer investigation it was apparent she does have lice and the cycle of cleaning and combing began at their house.

Tuesday, I went and got my haircut and my hairdresser stated that lice didn't like Tea Tree Oil. I let Niki know this. My mom called to let me know that my sister had found some lice on her. YIKES!

On Wednesday, I did some research regarding essential oils and lice and there are some sites that say the Tea Tree Oil is more effective than over the counter stuff. You can make a liquid of Tea Tree Oil, Lavender and Eucalyptus and place on your head 3 times a day. I let Niki know this also and she is stopping by to get some of the essential oils - none of us wants to have lice sticking around.

Today my mom called with an update, my sister had gone to a place on Mercer Island called Lice Away and they will check your head for $10 and treat it also for $95.00. The company stated that my sister had had the lice for 2 weeks.

This is what Kid's Health states about lice: Small red bumps or sores from scratching. For some kids, the irritation is mild; for others, a more bothersome rash may develop. Excessive scratching can lead to a bacterial infection (this can cause swollen lymph glands and red, tender skin that might have crusting and oozing). If your doctor thinks this is the case, he or she may treat the infection with an oral antibiotic.

You may be able to see the lice or nits by parting your child's hair into small sections and checking for lice and nits with a fine-tooth comb on the scalp, behind the ears, and around the nape of the neck (it's rare for them to be found on eyelashes or eyebrows).

A magnifying glass and bright light may help. But it can be tough to find a nymph or adult louse — often, there aren't many of them and they move fast.

Call your doctor if your child is constantly scratching his or her head or complains of an itchy scalp that won't go away. The doctor should be able to tell you if your child is infested with lice and needs to be treated. Not all kids have the classic symptoms of head lice and some can be symptom-free.

Also be sure to check with your child's school nurse or childcare center director to see if other kids have recently been treated for lice. If you discover that your child does, indeed, have lice or nits, contact the staff at the school and childcare center to let them know. Find out what their return policy is. Most usually allow kids to return after one topical treatment has been completed.

Now after reading the above article - Kenz might have had lice for a couple of weeks - she definitely had the itching sensation but no signs of the lice. Hard to tell.

UPDATE: Niki took Kenz to the Lice Away place in Federal Way on Friday and yes, it looks like she might have had lice for 2 weeks - YEEK!  Lice Away treatment is all natural using essential oils.

Here is the number for Lice Away in case you might need it, 1-866-549-4005.

FREE 8x10 wrapped photo by Canvas People - just pay $14.95 for shipping

FREE 8x10* or 60 Percent at Cart - Create a Canvas
Canvas People is having a great sale on their 8x10 wrapped photo, a $49.99 value, just pay shipping of $14.99. What an awesome deal! If you would like a bigger canvas just take 60% off the original price. Here is a list of all the sizes and prices.

I did this deal a few years back and was quite pleased with the workmanship and the picture has held up well.
The hardest part of this deal is finding the perfect picture out of the thousands I have. It is really easy to do - just follow the directions on the site and it is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Just remember to use no border, since the picture wraps around the frame.

School shopping at the Goodwill and Value Village - saving tons of money!

I started school shopping the other day for Kenz. She has grown so much over the year, up and around that some of last year's clothes are now in the bin to be sold at the consignment sale happening in October at the Puyallup Fair Grounds. So the other day, Goodwill was having clothes for 50% off and I thought I would swing by and see what they had. I am glad I did, this is what I bought:
 1 pink shirt for $2.50 reg. $ 4.99
1 Disney shirt for $2.00 reg. $3.99
1 dragon sweatshirt $3.00 reg. $5.99

1 pair of red jeggings $3.00 reg. $5.99
1 pair of blue jeggings $3.00 reg.$5.99
1 pair of dk blue jeggins $3.00 reg. $5.99

 1 light blue sweater $1.50 reg. $2.99
1 raincoat $2.50 reg. $4.99

1 top $3.00 reg. $5.99
1 blue dress $3.00 reg. $5.99

A lot of what I bought at the Goodwill was green tagged and I knew that if I wanted to, I could of waited until Sunday when the green tags were $ 1.29 - but I didn't want to take my chance that these items would be gone.

I spent $
27.92 and saved $25.40.

I took advantage of the promotion that is happening at Value Village currently. If you bring in 2 bags of household items, books, clothes, toys, etc. you will receive a coupon for 30% off your whole purchase. Remember certain tags on Monday are $.99 also (30% is not discounted off the special tags - they are already marked down - no double dipping is allowed). Yesterday I decided to take a carload of items to Value Village to receive my 30% coupon and then I did some shopping. I did some back to school shopping as well (remember I am a teacher and I deserve some new clothes).

1 maroon sleeveless cotton shirt $1.39 reg. $1.99 (minus 30% off)
1 orange tank shirt $1.39 reg. $1.99 (minus 30% off)
1 white with a black trim sleeveless shirt $2.09 reg. $2.99  (minus 30% off)

2 Coldwater Creek tank tops with lace on bottom $2.09 each reg. $2.99 (minus 30% off)

1 jean capri $.99
1 magazine $.20 reg. $.29 (minus 30% off)

Then of course I looked for clothes for the twins and Kenz and this is what I found:
Tigger outerwear (I'm a Tigger fan) for the twins $4.89 reg. $6.99 (minus 30% off)

 1 t-shirt for Kenz $1.40 reg. $1.99 (minus 30% off)
1 pair of Monsters slippers $2.09 reg. $2.99 (minus 30% off)
1 pair of Mickey Mouse slippers $.70 reg. $.99 (minus 30% off)

This trip to Value Village cost me $23.39 and I saved $19.79.

I stopped off at the Goodwill again and I bought this:
1 tan pair of jeggings for $3.00 reg. $5.99
1 patterned pair of jeggings for $1.99 reg. $9.99

1 striped top $2.50 reg. $4.99
1 yellow pair of jeggings $3.00 reg. $5.99

I spent $10.72 and I saved $17.17.

Redneck wading pool

By the time I thought about getting a new wading pool, they were all sold out. Oh, what is a body to do when the grand kids are here for 5 days and we needed a wading pool. Kenz (the 7 year old) looked around and decided the top of the turtle sandbox would do. So I filled the top up and all three kids sat down. It was a little tight - but they made it work.

Of course at my house we are always thinking outside the box.

I texted this picture to my dad and he claims it as "Rub-a-dub-dub, 3 kids in a tub". Whatever works.

11 Thrift Stores on one day - PHEW!

My friend and I began our weekly trip to the Goodwill bright and early on July 14th. This time we were going to be going by Value Villages also. On our recent exploration for cake stands for my daughter who was making her friend's wedding cake, we stopped by a few Value Village and was pleasantly surprised when they have certain tags for $.99 on Monday. Also Value Village was having a promotion - with a stamp card. If you spent $75 and received your stamps you could turn it in for 30% off your sale. In addition, if you donated items to Value Village you will receive a coupon for $3.00 off $10.00 you spend. This is why my friend and I decided to attempt to cram as many thrift stores on this trip. This was a long day especially since we crammed 11 stores into one day. Probably won't do that in the near future. But then you never know with me. Stay tuned.
