What I bought at Pet Pros with a coupon

The other day when I opened my blue Value Pack (mailed monthly), I was hoping for a Goodwill coupon (I have heard they are in there sometimes) they didn't have it this month. Instead they had a coupon for $5 off $25 of product at Pet Pros.

I stepped into a Pet Pros this past week and they had a special on canned grain free dog food. My Cocker Spaniel has rotten teeth (former owner let him chew on rocks - poor guy), so I decided to start putting some soft food into his food to help him eat and stay healthy. I started putting 1/4 of the can mixed in with part of his dry food and Buddy snarfed it down and of course Mittens the kitty had to help herself to it also. Then I realized I didn't need to put as much of the wet food in each time (this way I could stretch the wet food even more) - Now I put just a Tablespoon + of the wet food and he still loves it and has a clean plate or dish every day.

A couple of their brands of food were on sale at buy 2 cans get 1 free, until September 9th. So I thought what the heck and got 3 cans to try. Buddy loves it and he even eats his dry food to boot.

My idea is buy 10 cans and get 5 cans free and spend $20 after the $5 coupon. This should last around 1-1/2 months.

Also if you go here you can receive a $5 coupon on your next bag of dry Avoderm.

Scotch Expression Tape Coupon of $5 off when you spend $10

Do you have any creative ideas you want to get started and you just don't have the right material, like expression tape? Right now coupons.com has a great coupon if you spend $10 you get $5 off of your purchase, here.

I love the fun and exciting tapes they have. It comes in many different sizes - I normally buy mine on sale at Fred Meyer's or Office Depot. I used these tapes to cover the PVC pipe to make homemade hula hoops.

Have you checked out ScotchBrand.com/EXP - it has creative inspirational ideas for everyone.

Where to find coupons

Sometimes when I am looking on saving money - coupons jump out in the strangest places. I knew Target had there own coupons and cartwheel to save even more money.  But I never thought about looking at Walmart for coupons. You can find them here and you can use them anywhere coupons are accepted.

There are a few blogs that I look at for additional coupon sites. They are hip2save, The Coupon Project, QueenBee and Thrifty and Thriving. These sites have a coupon database that if you are looking for a particular coupon it will list if any are available and where.

Another site that you might not be aware that has coupons is here.

Also there are sites where you can buy whole coupon inserts by the date here is one. Also you can buy individual coupons from eBay, prices vary.

Target deal on Up & Up Kleenex for August 17 - 23

In my classroom, I always buy Kleenex for my students and myself. The stuff the district calls tissue and gives out to classrooms is so rough that over time it increases the soreness around the nose area during cold season and is unacceptable.

Target has a deal on facial tissues:

Up & Up facial tissues (160 ct) for $1.25
Use $.75/1 Target beauty coupon
Also Use 5% off Cartwheel (limit 4)
Total $.48 - stock up price

Thanks, momsbyheart

Reward store in classroom

When I started teaching in a special education classroom, my fellow teachers all mentioned that I would need to have a reward store in my classroom. This system went against all that I believed in. I believed that students should do well in class and not be rewarded for good behavior or doing well on an assignment. Of course I listened to them and had a store which included items that I thought students would like to have.  I have changed the items over the years depending on my students wants and needs (I now ask them what they would like to see in store).

So this brings up this article, since school items are now popping up all over the place with sale prices and coupons. I like to buy store items at the lowest price since these products come out of my pocket.  Fred Meyer this week has Betty Crocker Fruit by the Foot, Gushers, Fruit Roll-ups for $2.50 each and then if you add the Fred Meyer digital coupon onto your card you will have $6/4 deducted off your price (expires 08/24/14). Also this digital coupon can be used 5 times within a single transaction. What this means is you could buy 20 Betty Crocker fruit snacks and receive $30 off. At that rate it would be great for lunches or after school snacks if you have young ones at home or even a pick me up for yourself (watch the sugar level - it's easy to get carried away). I love all of these products.

This would be a stock up price for me since each box would be $1.00.

Also each box should have a Box Tops for Education label and you can cut this out and give it to your PTA or fundraiser committee to collect - you will receive $.10 for each label (awesome fundraiser).
You might think how will just a couple of labels help my school - well if each teacher and student brought in 10 a month ($1.00) that could add up over time.

What I bought at Target

I went to Target specifically for the pet food deal going on this week at Target. Of course everyone else was scooping up the Target kitty food and the shelf was empty. I will need to go again this week and retrieve the kitty food and the cat litter and will need to revise what I buy since both items are on sale. I might need to buy another cat litter for me to reach the $40.

Instead of the pet food I was going to buy - I decided to check out the other deals in the store and match them with the coupons I had brought. This is what I got:

1 - 24 pack of watercolor $4.00

2 - Oil Pastels $1.41 each = $2.82 (minus 50% off original price of $1.41 = $.71)

1 - 24 erasable colored pencils $4.49

3 - 10 thin colored markers $1.29 each = $3.87

Used $2 off $10 of crayola products

Total was $12.28

1 post it notes $1.02

 Used $1.00 off Post-it's

Total was $.02

1 Scotch tape $1.00

Used $1.00 off Scotch tape

Total was FREE

1 Juicy Fruit Gum Chews $2.99

Used $.75 coupon for the gum

Used 50% cartwheel coupon for the gum

Total for the gum was $.75

2 Coffee-Mate Creamer @ $1.50 each

Used 2 - $1.00 coupons for the Coffee-Mate

Total for the creamer was $.50 each

 1 Nail polish remover $2.59

1 soccer ball $4.99

the last 2 items my daughter decided to throw in - the soccer ball was important because the last one got kicked under the deck at my parents house

Total spent at Target after all the coupons and then using my Target Red Card  (5% deducted) was $23.43 and I saved $11.13.
