What I bought at Pet Pros with a coupon

The other day when I opened my blue Value Pack (mailed monthly), I was hoping for a Goodwill coupon (I have heard they are in there sometimes) they didn't have it this month. Instead they had a coupon for $5 off $25 of product at Pet Pros.

I stepped into a Pet Pros this past week and they had a special on canned grain free dog food. My Cocker Spaniel has rotten teeth (former owner let him chew on rocks - poor guy), so I decided to start putting some soft food into his food to help him eat and stay healthy. I started putting 1/4 of the can mixed in with part of his dry food and Buddy snarfed it down and of course Mittens the kitty had to help herself to it also. Then I realized I didn't need to put as much of the wet food in each time (this way I could stretch the wet food even more) - Now I put just a Tablespoon + of the wet food and he still loves it and has a clean plate or dish every day.

A couple of their brands of food were on sale at buy 2 cans get 1 free, until September 9th. So I thought what the heck and got 3 cans to try. Buddy loves it and he even eats his dry food to boot.

My idea is buy 10 cans and get 5 cans free and spend $20 after the $5 coupon. This should last around 1-1/2 months.

My cat and plastic shoes

I have an unusual cat that likes to eat flip flops and Crocs. These shoes are not safe when the cat is around. I don't know what she is missing in her diet that she feels an urge to nibble, but the flip flops and Crocs are in danger.

So now I have gotten smart and I am hiding my new flip flops from the danger of her sharp little teeth (now if I could only remember where they are when I want to wear them).

Homemade frozen broth for dogs

After chicken has cooked and the bones have been picked clean, 

I take the bones and place them in a small saucepan top with

enough water to cover the bones.  

Place on the stove and boil for about 20 minutes. Then I let it rest (ha, ha) 
and drain the juice off.

I place this broth in ice cube trays. This broth will be given as

                       treats to the dog - homemade frozen chicken broth.                              

Cat in a cone

I have never had a cat in a cone before. About a month ago, we took Mittens (she has extra claws - 6 in the front and 5 in the back) to the vet to have her spayed. After picking her up the vet stated we had to keep her in a cone for 2 weeks. Are you kidding me? This has never happened with all the animals I have had over the years; spayed or neutered. The vet stated that kitties mouths are very dirty and her incision could become infected if she licks it. Wow - who knew.

I'm thinking if the incision is looking good the cone will be coming off soon.  But after watching Mittens sit on her bottom (did you know kitties had bottoms?) she somehow contorted her body to lick her flank with her belly up and her paws resting on her tummy covering her incision. I'm wandering is this is good for her. Her incision is enclosed with glue not stitches- maybe it's a cleaner way of closure. The incision looks ok to me. A little puffy, but I'm assuming this is normal.

When she cleans she licks her cone - it's cute. Another thing I have noticed since her surgery she is very lovey. She and her cone sleep on me every night. And she is constantly purring. I know that the purr can be when she is in pain also- but she is so cute.
