Spring break
What conjures up Spring Break in your mind? Spring cleaning, yard work, garage cleaning, acquiring a dog, oh my. Oh. That's right! That's what I was planning for my Spring Break - this is what actually happened. Well my Spring Break began watching my grandkids like usual. Friday night I had Kenzie until Sunday afternoon. I dropped her off after our jaunt to the Goodwill. She got to pick out some clothes. Not feeling well, I took her home early and went onto another Goodwill - looking for more pants for her and I did find a few things that will fit her.
Monday was designated for the garage but the weather wasn't cooperating it was nice, even gorgeous. With the weather being nice I changed my venue and chose to weed instead. I got most of the front of the house to the sidewalk weeded. Then I moved onto the front yard. Most of my plants seem to have died. :( again I have to replace eight plants that I guess froze this year and have turned to mush while the leaves are furnishing a life for potato bugs. I had to stop weeding since my recycle bins were totally full. I then moved my creaky body upstairs to soak in Epsom salt and coconut oil.
After soaking and relaxing, I started towards the garage, since I didn't want to waste any time just laying around. The garage is still a disaster from last June (when I had to move my classroom). Headed towards the back of the garage, oh no! I'm not sure this area has seen very much light lately. I spent a couple of hours sorting, reorganizing and tossing. Now I see a little light, not much just a glimmer. It will have to wait another day to see more.
Tuesday, was laundry and dishes again. Grandkids arrived at 11 along with Buddy, the cocker spaniel and the fun began.
Wednesday was zoo day. The twins were toted around on my youngest daughter, Erika and my back with Ergo backpacks (lifesaver). Kenz walked and was a great trooper. Erika and Kenz had a play date in the evening and the twins stayed with me for more fun.
Thursday was another play day. A band played within my 4 walls. We had both boys playing cymbals, Kenz playing triangle and myself was on the drum and tambourine. It was so loud and inspiring. The baby gate fell down and the twins plunged their way into the music/playroom. At one point both boys had brooms and were sweeping the floor. How cute is that. They enjoyed stuffing the play kitchen full of play food. A 2 foot plastic doll (which I played with as a kid- heaven forbid it's over 40 years old and still has life in her) was carried around by one of the twins. Nicole (mom of Kenz and the twins) picked up kids around 530.
Erika and I talked it over and decided to ask Nicole and Adrian (her boyfriend) if we could keep Buddy. And lo and behold they both said yes.
Technically the dog is Adrian's, but Nicole has complained for years that Buddy smells.
When Friday came Erika and I took Buddy and Mittens (the cat that just got spayed- she needed a booster shot) to the vet. Buddy was examined and it was determined that he has ear infections and allergies. He was put on a regiment of cleaning ears out twice a day and medicine massaged into ears. In addition, Benadryl twice a day for his allergies (his feet are all red from the pollen). Both Erika and I were surprised when the vet stated that 1 regular adult Benadryl pill will suffice for twice a day. It seems high, but the vet knows best. I signed up Buddy to be neutered on Monday. Yeah! Then went food shopping - kids sure can eat.
Kenz spent the night again with me on Friday and the boys arrived bright and early on Saturday. We all piled in the car and headed for Hair Masters for Kenz’s haircut. The boys were placed again on our backs, so they could stay out of trouble. Then we headed home. Played, ate, nap time, played and ate again. Nicole came around 5 and picked up the boys and Kenz spent the night again with me.
Sunday was a relaxing day of laundry, cooking chicken, made up some coconut milk yogurt and did more dishes. Went to my parent’s house for dinner and my sister came down and we all had a good time.
Tomorrow, Spring Break is officially over since school begins bright and early. Hope everyone had a great Spring Break.
