Goodwill Treasures on a snowy February day

Goodwill Treasures on a snowy February day

We headed towards Seattle on a very snowy day in February. Almost didn’t go today because of the 4” of snow that laid on the ground this morning. The weather in the Pacific Northwest is very unpredictable with the winds coming from Alaska and the winds coming from Hawaii. The forecast was 30% chance of snow and around 6:30 pm Saturday the snow came fluttering down to land. It snowed continually until midnight and then it stopped, that’s when I went to bed, so it could have snowed more I just wasn’t aware of it.

Any ways my friend called this morning to make sure we were still on. I scraped all the snow off my windshields, pulled on a winter coat and galoshes and off I went to get her to head north for a visit to the Seattle Goodwill. Roads were bare of snow and cars and it was smooth sailing. We pulled into the parking lot and it was half full, very unusual for a Sunday afternoon at the Goodwill.  I spent $27.21 with tax – I bought 2 pairs of warm galoshes for the grandkids at $5.99 each, a Tigger frame (the glass was broken) for $2.99, a glass frame (to replace the broken glass) for $.99, a wicker paper holder for $2.99, duct tape for $1.99, Sesame Street cupcake stencils for $1.99, a spray bottle for $.99, a 3 hole punch (I broke the one at school) for $.99 and cupcake liners for $.99.

After we moved along the dry highway to Renton it was misting and traffic was picking up, but I was able to merge onto 405 very easily and tootled down the road. Hit Renton mid afternoon and bought a Pooh and Tigger swim towel for $2.99, 2 hand towels for $1.00, 1 plastic paper holder, 1 package of orange heavy plastic silverware for $1.00 and 1 Tupperware cereal container for $1.99. Total with tax was $9.29.

My friend and I decided it was time to get something to eat to help revive our spirits and we did this in Renton. Then onto Tukwila, it was around 3:00 pm and the snow in this area was dwindling down because the temperature was creeping up into the high 30’s and a little rain. At Tukwila, I bought a Civil War book for $.79, a Christmas dress for $2.50, a headband kit for $.99, 1 glass frame for $.50, a scrapbook memory sticker for $1.99 and a big mug for $.49. Total with tax was $7.95.
